Ultimate Square (Metric)

Update 07/03/2024: I was asked to provide an Imperial version of this popular Square. That model can be found at Ultimate Square (Imperial)…..but if you have come for the Metric versions you are in the right place! Keep reading…. :)

 

I wanted to design the ultimate fully 3D printable square that;

1. could be printed in the strongest orientation without any supports,
2. is double sided, having a full set of clearly legible markings,
3. is as accurate as possible.

By printing the faces of the square in two halves and by laying them flat on the bed (as opposed to standing tall like designs available elsewhere) the layer lines are in the optimum orientation. A simple set of shouldered locking fixings (also fully printable) allows you to then align & tighten the two pieces perfectly, using a small flat head screwdriver.

 

The overall accuracy has proven excellent, so I feel that this solution has ticked all the design criteria.

 

Includes all the usual features for checking/marking distances, angles & the larger sizes also have some notches for pencil marking at 10mm increments.

• Medium: 100mm Square
• Large: 150mm Square
