Boost Me

The model is a refillable air filter for the original External Exhaust Fan Kit designed for the Bambu Lab P2S and X2D.

It can be used in combination with my additional HEPA filter or standalone.

Any commercially available activated carbon pellets can be used. The only requirement is that it must be acid‑free.

With the filter, VOCs generated during printing of PLA or PETG are captured. Thanks to the active exhaust fan, these gases are no longer blown uncontrolled through any openings in the printer; instead they are routed through the filter in a controlled manner.

Optionally, a filter fleece up to 3 mm thick can be used to keep fine activated‑carbon particles from escaping the filter. Because the exhaust air is blown out of the printer, this isn’t strictly necessary but is recommended to avoid environmental contamination. The less finer the particles in your activated carbon are, the less critical the filter felt becomes.

Print and Assembly Instructions:

It is recommended to use PETG or ABS/ASA for this filter.

  1.  If you don't have it already, print the original exhaust fan kit parts
  2.  Print the parts of the filter
  3.  Add the active carbon
  4.  Add the (recommended, but optional) filter fleece
  5.  Close the filter with the lid
  6.  Replace the stock filter with the new one

Sourcing of the Parts:

Example Links for activated Carbon Pellets:

  • Meltbro (Nevermore Active Carbon, this is what I am using)
  • Amazon (alternative if you want to source from amazon, but quality of Nevermore Carbon is best)
