Layer-Swirl Rose Heart

This is a sculpted heart decor piece with a deep, organic surface inspired by layered roses and topographic contours. It’s designed specifically for layer-based color changes, creating a flowing swirl effect as colors transition through the height of the print.

The heart can be displayed on a shelf using the included stand or hung on the wall using the integrated hanger feature built into the border.

What’s Included

This project includes three 3D-printed parts:

• Textured heart insert
• Outer border/frame (with built-in wall-hang recess)
• Separate display stand

No glue, screws, or fasteners required — everything press-fits together.

Multi-Color Printing (Important)

This model uses layer-based color changes.

Before slicing, the model may appear as a single color — this is normal.
Once you slice the model, the color transitions will appear in the preview and layer bar.

• With an AMS: Colors change automatically at the defined layer heights.
• Without an AMS: Insert pause commands at the color-change layers and swap filament manually. It takes a little time, but it works well.

To change colors:

1. Update colors under Project Filaments
2. Re-slice the model
3. Confirm colors in the print dialog before starting

You can also adjust the number of layers per color to change the look.

Scaling & Depth Customization

• All parts can be scaled together uniformly to any size.
• The heart insert can be scaled independently in Z to increase or reduce surface depth without changing the footprint.

If you change the Z height of the heart insert, you may need to adjust the layer heights where colors change, since color transitions are based on vertical height. After scaling, re-slice and review the color layers.
