EDIT : The diorama base included does not include the moon/stars (my error). I did these additions in slicer, adding STL's and forgot. You can add it in your slicer and I will go back to add mine, soon.

A visual getaway from an otherwise loud world… This Book Nook is intended to provide a small distraction from an otherwise mentally-taxing day by providing a view from your room into a dazzling world of imagination and adventure. The diorama I made features a night sky - perfect when you may not be able to see on a cloudy or stormy night - and gives feelings of peace and relaxation. I would highly encourage you to design your own. A knight slaying a dragon? A view of fields and crops? An adventure of John-117? The possibilities are endless.

Hiding behind the wall panel is a small storage area for keepsakes, bookmarks and anything else just needing its own, personalized space. Simply push in on the top of the blinds as shown, and the lever will be pulled down and allow for free access. It's not much, but its a small getaway for the simple items that will take you on an adventure. Small rails are placed so that sliding crates for vertical storage (which will be added soon) can be slid in. Maybe you want to store some rings or spare change?

After printing, assembly is easy:

  1. The first thing I advise is to clip the two small tabs off the body. They were placed with the intention of having the wall panel slide in to the notches, but that idea was abandoned, temporarily. A V2 may incorporate this.
  2. I used some small hinges to attach the panel, with 4x original wood screws that were included to fasten the hinge to the wall and then using 4x M2x4 screws to secure it to the body.
  3. Use 4xM2x4 screws to secure the feet at appropriate spots on the corners. These provide clearance for the hinges.
  4. The blinds secure to the frame via the notches and pegs, and there are 2x holes on the rear of the blind part that attach one of the splits back securely. They use 2x M2x6. Once the blinds are in place, it should be able to be closed securely.
  5. Attach the sping holder above the window with 2 x M2x6 screws (and potentially your desired adhesive). Then install the spring.
  6. Print your choice of a diorama. The model I included has a large part of the moon behind the display. Simply add a negative spaced cube in the slicer to remove desired mass. Set the riser inside, then set the diorama on top of the riser pegs.

I also added a USBC port at the rear (the hole is already provided) to allow wiring for LED's. This uses 5v current (so ensure you use a proper power supply. I placed 2x9v pre-wired LED's into the positions I wanted them after making the holes. These will need to be wired up parallel to the power coming into the USBC port.

Please, give feedback for any prints. I'd love to see your dioramas and what ideas come forward. Also, feel free to adjust the appearance of the wall to your own tastes.

Printed with PLA, PLA Wood and PLA Marble.
