Description
This is a simple, rigid phone stand designed specifically for product photography and close-up work.
I built this because I kept running into the same problem:
most phone stands only support one fixed angle, and almost none allow a phone to be oriented nearly horizontal and aimed straight down for tight shots of small parts. This stand solves that with a stepped geometry that gives you multiple repeatable angles—from near-vertical to shallow, overhead views—without hinges, screws, or adjustments. I can't stress the “repeatable part enough”- when taking multiple shots of products its nice to be able to match angles; I even tape it down sometimes to ensure it doesn't move.
I use this stand regularly for product images inside a photo box, including my own printable photo box designs. It’s especially useful for:
At very shallow angles, a small portion of the stand may be visible in the shot. In practice, this has been easy to remove using built-in object removal tools on modern phones.
The animated GIF shows the intended funtion better than words and I used one of these stands for taking the pictures so you can see how steady and consistent it is for this type of job where its key to maintain consistant framing.
