Modular chainmail

this is a set of modular chainmail. 

I looked all across maker world for an actual set of chainmail but i was disappointed that there were no good sets actually made to be worn. I found some chainmail helmets on other websites but none of them seemed to be the right size so i decided to make a modular version designed for every possible use.

 

when designing it, I wanted it to have these 8 functions:

• modular (yet still printable in bulk)
• look good and consistent
• easy to assemble but harder to disassemble
• somewhat strong
• no supports
• less than 0.5 cm thick
• print in PETG and ABS not just PLA
• able to combine them so that the mail is not limited to a square or rectangular shape

and I achieved them all.

 

to print:
I recommend 0.4mm nozzle

a slower first layer is best as there are a lot of pieces to print and you don't want one to go wrong and the rest to follow

0.2 mm layer but 0.16mm for the first layer with a Z offset of -0.02 mm (optional for better bed adhesion)

PLA works well though ABS and PETG also work quite well too

any color works

2 or 3 walls 

NO SUPPORTS (this will ruin the print)

 

any ideas on how this can be improved, please tell me, i am open to ideas
