This design is loosely based off of the design martin.spiloch designed here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1479685-ams-ht-side-mount#profileId-1544865
AMS-Holder brackets by Sebby are included with this design as they work great!
AMS-HT side mount for the AMS1 (original AMS)
-Sturdy design
-Encompasses the AMS-HT to help prevent it from sliding/tipping off the mount
-Mounts to the AMS via slots on the bottom side
-Air hole on bottom not blocked
-Can mount left or right side
-No extra hardware needed
Printing recommendations.
- Do NOT use PLA for this. The AMS-HT gets warm when drying. PLA naturally will sag with a load on it, and throwing heat into the mixture will cause issues sooner than later. Use PETG-CF, PETG, ABS, ASA, or similar. I personally used Polymaker Fiberon PET-GF15.
- If not using my print profile, be certain to up your walls and infill. It may be overkill, but I suggest 5 walls, 25% crosshatch or similar infill. I'd rather it be overly sturdy instead of a $140 dryer hitting the floor.
- This will work on either side of the AMS, you may need to swap which one is front and which one is back if doing so.
- Due to printer tolerances and print tolerances, you MAY have a small gap between the mount or side pieces. It shouldn't allow for more than a degree of tilt or so. You can take this gap up with some double sided tape, or print a small TPU spacer if desired, but on the 2 printers I tested it on, it was negligible.
- Adaptive layers will help with the large radius that is facing the build plate
- Supports are needed for 2 area, You can use normal or tree supports.
- If using my print profile, it is set up for Fiberon PETG-CF. Make sure to select your correct filament profile if using something different.
Important!!
I found out the hard way that the AMS-HT does NOT work correctly if using as an external spool setup as I originally intended. It has to go through the buffer or hub if you have one. I used the bambu 4to1 splitter with a short section of PTFE before the buffer so I could feed with my AMS as well as the AMS-HT.
I do not know if this will work with risers. I do not use them. I do not know if this will fit a P2S or other printers, I currently only have a P1S and X1C.
