Project Showcase: Tiger I (Panzerkampfwagen VI)
Overview
A detailed FDM 3D print of the iconic German Tiger I heavy tank. The model captures the boxy, formidable silhouette of the Mid-to-Late production variants, complete with the characteristic interleaved road wheels and the 8.8 cm KwK 36 main gun.
Key Details Captured
- Turret & Armament: Features the cylindrical cupola, smoke dischargers, and a long, reinforced barrel with a muzzle brake.
- Hull Details: Visible pioneering tools (shovels/crank handles) mounted on the side, and the distinct rear exhaust setup.
- Print Quality: Printed with a consistent layer height that highlights the mechanical geometry. The "stepping" on the curved turret roof actually adds a nice industrial texture to the tank’s armour.
Print Notes
- Filament: Wood-brown / Copper-toned PLA.
- Support Management: Successfully printed the overhanging barrel and turret bustle. Some minor post-processing/cleaning is visible along the side skirts where supports were attached, showing the "raw" authenticity of the print.
