GPS Mount – Mark 4 Drone (Flat, Over Camera-Mounted)
This is a flat GPS mount designed for the Mark IV drone, intended to mount over the camera. It was tested on a 5-inch quad, and may also work on a 7-inch build if the mounting hole spacing matches.
The GPS sits flat rather than angled, which makes magnetometer setup and calibration much easier, especially when using external compass modules.
Compatible Hardware
- Designed primarily for use with a GPS module that includes a magnetometer
- Tested with an M100 GPS module
- Flat mounting helps keep the magnetometer orientation simple and predictable
Design Notes & Revisions
- Original design was printed in PLA
- Worked initially but cracked over time
- Revised design strengthens the problem areas
- The updated version should be safe to print in PLA
- Cracking should no longer be an issue, but PETG-based materials are still recommended for long-term durability
Print Recommendations
Tested Materials
- PLA (original version – cracked over time)
- PETG / C-PETG (revised version – recommended)
Suggested Settings
- Material: PETG or C-PETG preferred
- Infill: 50% (used successfully on the revised design)
- Orientation: Print as provided (mounting face flat)
PLA can still be used with the revised design if PETG isn’t available.
Notes
- Mounts directly over the camera, low profile
- Flat GPS orientation simplifies magnetometer configuration
- Check hole spacing before printing if you plan to use this on a 7-inch frame
If you want, I can:
- Tighten this up into a more “marketing-polished” MakerWorld tone
- Add a short changelog section
- Or write a separate print profile description to go with it
