Math 3D Net Manipulatives
UPDATES:
- April 19th 2026: 2 new 3D Nets have arrived by request! There is a new profile uploaded that contains a Square Pyramid, and a Irregular Triangular Prism! I have also cleaned up the model and profile descriptions and removed all references to the old hinges that aren't used.
- Feb 23rd 2026: 2 new 3D Nets have arrived! There is a new profile uploaded that contains a Cylinder and Cone. This should round out the 3D Net set pretty well!
- Feb 17th 2026: 3 new 3D Nets have arrived!! There is a new profile uploaded that contains a Rectangular Prism, Rectangular Pyramid and Triangular Prism. Cylinder and Cone are also almost complete!
- Feb 12th 2026: I have uploaded a new profile, version 2 of the Cube and Triangular Pyramid. The hinge is now more durable and easier to print than version 1. I also removed the closing tabs, and version 2 manipulates much better, so they fold tighter than version 1. I am also working on more 3D Nets as well, they will be coming soon!
I wanted to share some 3D Net manipulatives that I made for a teacher friend to help her students visualize a 3D object unwrapped in 2D space
There are currently 9 nets!
- Cube
- Rectangular Prism
- Triangular Prism
- Irregular Triangular Prism
- Triangular Pyramid
- Square Pyramid
- Rectangular Pyramid
- Cone
- Cylinder
Printing Tips:
- Prints very easily, no supports, low filament cost, lightning infill. You can adjust as desired.
- The hinges are meant to only go in ONE direction when closing the net. You can normally tell the right direction because there is a chamfer on the inside edge. The cylinder is the only one that doesn't have this, but it folds inward from the build plate orientation.
- Make sure you have a clean build plate, the first layer on these are important!
I hope this helps more teachers and kids out there. Teachers are undervalued, but we appreciate you over here!
Boost MeBoosts are always appreciated!
