Snapmaker U1 Side Spool Holder

This is a custom alternative spool holder system for the Snapmaker U1, designed for users whose filament spools don’t fit the factory center hubs. If you use spools with unusual or incompatible inner diameters, these printed hubs provide a reliable, universal replacement.
Each spool holder is numbered 1 through 4 because each one mounts to a specific location on the U1. This ensures proper spacing, alignment, and clearance with the machine’s internal filament path.

 

Parts to Print
•     4 × Spool Holders
Choose either the 70 mm or 80 mm version
Each holder is labeled 1, 2, 3, or 4 to match its mounting position
•     4 × Spool Clips
These lock into the spool holder after being fastened with a screw

 

Hardware Required
•     4 × #6 wood screws (3/4” length)
These secure each clip to its spool holder before installation.

 

Print Settings (Recommended)
•     Layer Height: 0.2 mm
•     Walls: 3
•     Top Layers: 5
•     Bottom Layers: 4
•     Infill: 25%
•     Supports: Not required
All parts are designed to print cleanly without supports.

 

Assembly Instructions
1.     Print all four spool holders and four clips.
2.     Insert a spool clip into its matching numbered spool holder.
3.     Fasten the clip to the holder using a #6 × 3/4” wood screw — this locks the clip firmly inside the holder.
4.     Once assembled, align the holder with the matching numbered mounting hole on the Snapmaker U1.
5.     Press firmly until the assembly snaps into place.
6.     Repeat for holders 1–4.
7.     Mount your filament spool onto the printed hub for a proper fit with non‑standard spool centers.

 

Design Notes
•     This system is a direct replacement for the factory spool hubs.
•     Ideal for spools with oversized, undersized, or unusual center hub diameters.
•     Works with standard 1 kg filament spools.
•     PETG recommended for durability, but PLA works well too.
•     No supports needed for any part.
•     Numbering ensures each holder is installed in the correct location.

•     The screw‑secured clip provides a strong, reliable snap‑fit into the U1’s mounting holes.
