UniFi Travel Router (UTR) | MagSafe Mount Case

This case turns your UniFi Travel Router into a MagSafe-compatible, magnet-mountable travel setup.

It allows you to mount your UTR to:

  • MagSafe battery packs
  • MagSafe compatible phones
  • Metal surfaces
  • Magnetic mounts

Great for travel, hotel installs, mobile networking setups, or keeping your desk clean and organized.

Key Features

  • Full access to both Ethernet ports and both USB-C ports
  • Only 0.20mm of filament between magnets and mounting surface for strong magnetic performance
  • Three magnet configuration options
  • Compact finished size: 69mm x 100mm x 15.5mm
  • No supports required
Boost MeIf this model saved you time, improved your install, or inspired your own build, consider boosting it! Your support helps fund future hardware, prototyping, and more practical designs like this one.

Magnet Versions

Version 1: 42x - 5x1mm Magnet | (Recommended)

This version uses 42 individual 5x1mm magnets and provides much stronger and more reliable holding force than most pre-made rings.

Print instructions:

  • Use no supports
  • Add a pause at Layer 7 (1.40mm)
  • Insert the 42 magnets with the correct orientation. You can find the needed polarity by placing the magnets on your device, and seeing which way they offset. If attaching to a phone, do the following. If attaching to a MagSafe charger, you may need to reverse these instructions.
    • Inner ring is Negative / North Polarity
    • Outer ring is Positive / South Polarity
    • Alignment area is Negative / North Polarity
  • Resume print

This is the recommended option if you want maximum strength and consistency.

Version 2: MagSafe Magnets (Unpredictable strength)

Designed to fit common MagSafe magnet rings found online. These tend to have unpredictable strength, and your results may vary.

Ring Dimensions:

  • The inner ring: 46mm
  • Outer ring: 54.10mm
  • Alignment Area: 6mm x 19.31mm
  • Height: 1mm

Print instructions:

  • Add a pause at Layer 6 (1.20mm)
  • Insert magnet ring. Ensure you test the polarity on your device before inserting. The side that aligns with your device correctly goes toward the bed.
  • Resume print

Magnet strength depends entirely on the quality of the ring used. Many inexpensive rings have inconsistent magnet strength, so this option is less predictable.

Version 3: Large MagSafe Ring (Unpredictable strength)

Designed to fit large MagSafe magnet rings found online. These tend to have unpredictable strength, and your results may vary.

Ring Dimensions:

  • The inner ring: 44mm
  • Outer ring: 60mm
  • Alignment Area: 6mm Wide
  • Height: 1mm

Print instructions:

  • Add a pause at Layer 6 (1.20mm)
  • Insert magnet ring. Ensure you test the polarity on your device before inserting. The side that aligns with your device correctly goes toward the bed.
  • Resume print

Magnet strength depends entirely on the quality of the ring used. Many inexpensive rings have inconsistent magnet strength, so this option is less predictable.

Magnet Installation Tips

Before inserting magnets:

  1. Test a magnet against the device you plan to mount to.
  2. Make sure it attracts properly and does not repel or shift sideways.
  3. Once confirmed, install magnets so the attracting side faces toward the print bed.

The magnets should be more attracted to the print bed than to the nozzle. Keep an eye on the first layer printed over the magnets to ensure they stay seated properly.

There is only one printed layer, 0.20mm thick, between the magnets and the outside surface, so correct polarity matters.

Printing Notes

  • Prints cleanly without supports
  • Works well in ASA, PLA or PETG
  • Make sure your slicer includes the correct pause at the specified layer

If you travel with your UTR, you know finding a good place to mount it can be awkward. This case lets you snap it directly to a MagSafe battery, attach it to metal surfaces, or attach directly to your phone while keeping every port accessible.

Simple, functional, and designed specifically for the UTR.

Happy printing.
