GET THE RX-78-2 BAKCPLATE HERE
A 1-meter LED strip is sufficient for this frame. For best lighting diffusion and smooth glow, it is recommended to use a strip rated at least 60 LEDs per meter. I linked a compatible LED strip you can get straight from Maker Supply, but you can also get any generic LED brand available to you
This frame is designed as a modular base system for Gundam and custom backplates. The frame consists of two main parts: a white LED diffuser base and a black top frame (available in three style options).
The white diffuser features a dedicated inner groove that allows the LED strip to be securely pressed into place. Reinforced corner channels help prevent the LED strip from bending outward or lifting at the corners, even if the adhesive weakens over time. This ensures the strip does not touch the diffuser wall and maintains clean, even light distribution.
The frame includes three LED entry points for flexible cable routing: one rear entry and two bottom corner entries. This allows you to insert the LED strip from different directions depending on your setup.
1- Insert the LED strip into the white diffuser frame.
2- put the compatible Gundam or custom backplate into its dedicated slot inside the white frame.
3- Close the assembly by placing the black top frame over everything.
Once assembled, the system holds securely and allows future backplates to be swapped without redesigning the lighting base.
Three versions of the black top frame are included:
• Glowing Panel Lines Version – Designed for illuminated accent lines
• Engraved Panel Lines Version – Non-glowing engraved detail
• Blank Version – Clean, minimal design
The diffuser should be printed in white or light filament for optimal diffusion, while the outer frame is best printed in black for strong contrast.
Hope you like this project :)
