Another version of my twist-style “slimy” ball fidget toy. This time in a smooth colored (optional) version.

In the first print profile i added a color modifier to create the colored strip in the middle. You can change or remove it as you like.

 

The second print profile has a single color version, if you want to print it via bambu handy for example and / or just want to have one color.

 

This is a true print-in-place model: no supports, no brim - just print it and enjoy.

 

Scaling

 

In my provided profile the ball is set to 65% (i originally modeled it as a 100mm sphere in Fusion 360) . This is how i printed it and this is how it works perfectly.

 

Making it bigger should be no problem. I also tried making it much smaller. That did not work. If it´s too small, the segments don't have enough material to hold onto each other and the whole ball falls apart. So regarding downsizing there is a threshold until it stops working. Please be aware if you try to make the model smaller. In my opinion the size in the profile is the perfect size anyways.

 

For best results, print it in PLA or PETG. I also printed one in TPU which was fun, but it definitely is not the best material for such prints.
