Description
This is a remix of the original boombox created by Rickdod3. My goal was to convert the design into a fully self-powered, wall-plug boombox using a dedicated amplifier and standard AC power supply instead of relying on portable power.
I also redesigned the front speaker mounting face to fit DS18 speakers and modified the rear mounting plate to support the Kenwood amplifier listed below.
I chose the radio and amplifier because I already had them available as spare car audio components. Other single-DIN radios may work, but you should compare the chassis depth and dimensions to ensure proper fitment. The rear mounting holes in this design are specifically aligned for the Kenwood KAC-M1814 amplifier.
If you use this amplifier, it is important to use the recommended power supply listed below to ensure sufficient current delivery and proper operation.
Printed using Bambu PETG Black.
PETG is recommended for its strength, durability, and heat resistance.
This enclosure is designed to be assembled using:
Heat-set inserts are required for proper structural strength and repeated assembly/disassembly.
