Articulated Iron Man Mark 42 Arm
Inspired by the iconic Mark 42 suit from Iron Man 3, this is a fully articulated Iron Man arm designed for display, cosplay, or armor builds. The model focuses on printability, modularity, and mechanical articulation while minimizing required hardware.
I'm also working on a motorized version (see last image) so stay tuned for future posts!
Overview
The arm consists of four main components:
- Upper Arm
- Mid Arm
- Lower Arm
- Hand / Gauntlet
All sections except the hand are connected using bearings and hinge mechanisms to allow realistic articulation and smooth movement
You can find the Upload of the finger on my Makerworld portfolio or by following this link:

Structural Breakdown
1. Upper Arm
- The exoskeleton is designed in two separate parts for improved printability.
- This reduces support requirements and increases print reliability.
- A single piece version is also in the print profile
2. Mid Arm
- Serves as the structural bridge between upper and lower sections.
- Connects to the upper arm joint via a hinge and the lower arm via bearing for functional articulation.
3. Lower Arm (Multiple Print Variants)
- Four-part version – compatible with most standard printers.
- Two-part version – requires a Bambu Lab H2D or H-Series printer due to height constraints.
- Single-part version – requires a Bambu Lab H2D or H-Series printer due to height constraints.
4. Hand / Gauntlet
- The hand opening mechanism uses a simple filament strand as a hinge mechanism.
Hardware Requirements (optional)
The model is designed to require minimal hardware:
- A small number of screws (optional)
- 7x M3x12mm for lower arm bearing
- 4x M3x5mm for elbow piece
- Bearings for the elbow hinge mechanism
- Bearings used: F683ZZ 3x7x3
If you don't have these Parts on hand you can simply glue or plastic weld most pieces together
Assembly Support
If you encounter:
- Difficulties during assembly
- Unclear part orientation
- Missing references in the documentation
- Insufficient images or videos
