Mini Jumping Spider Enclosure
This is a compact, 3D-printable terrarium specifically scaled for jumping spiders, isopods, and micro-fauna. This "Mini" version retains all the premium features of the original design in a desktop-friendly footprint, perfect for shelving units or small spaces.
The enclosure measures approximately 15cm x 15cm x 23cm, offering a cozy yet vertical habitat optimized for smaller arboreal species.
Required Materials (BOM)
To complete this build, you will need:
- 4x Acrylic or Glass Panes: Dimensions 121mm x 185mm x 2 or 3mm.
- 3D Printing Filament: PETG is recommended for humidity resistance, though PLA is suitable for dry habitats.
Key Design Features
- Sliding Feeding Hatch: A top-mounted sliding hatch for easy, secure feeding without opening the main door.
- Comprehensive Ventilation: Strategically placed vent arrays on all corners and the lid ensure optimal cross-ventilation.
- Sliding Front Access: The front pane serves as a sliding door for easy cleaning and interaction.
- Dual Top Versions: 1. LED-Ready Top: Features a dedicated groove designed for a 5mm wide, 1m long LED strip. Includes a discrete cable routing hole at the back. 2. Standard Top: A clean, flat design for those not requiring integrated lighting.
Print Settings & Assembly Tips
- Light Installation: If using the LED version, thread the strip through the back opening before adhering it to the internal groove.
- Safety: Always sand any sharp edges on 3D-printed parts or glass panes before introducing your pets.
- Optimized for Bambu Lab: The provided profile is tuned for Bambu Lab PETG HF using standard settings.
- Strength: The default settings are plenty strong for this application. If you require extra rigidity, you can increase the wall loops or infill, though it is not necessary for standard use.
- Supports: Use Tree Supports. They are much easier to remove from the ventilation slots and grooves, ensuring a cleaner finish.
- Fitment & Tolerances: The tolerances for the vertical pillars are intentionally tight to ensure the finished terrarium is sturdy and rattle-free.
- Pro Tip: If you find it difficult to seat the pillars into the top or bottom parts, a light sanding on the ends of the pillars will allow them to slide in smoothly.
Optimized for A1 Mini & Small-Format Printers
This design was specifically engineered with the Bambu Lab A1 Mini in mind. Every component from the base and pillars to the top-mounted hatch fits comfortably within a 180mm x 180mm build plate. You can print the entire kit without worrying about plate size constraints or complex orientation, making it the perfect project for owners of smaller-format machines.
