I now was finally able to make a fidget out of this model - took me a while. Find it here

 

I created a super spiky acupressure sensory ball. Since the ball prints in 3 parts, it is perfectly round and does not need any support for the outside (only on the inside, where it wont be visible after its assembled). 

 

Depending on the material, it may happen that the screw connection is no longer extremely tight after a while (PLA, for example). In this case, this is due to the material. Simply unscrew the ball, apply some adhesive to the threads, and screw it back on. Everything will then be permanently secure.

Not only is the ball strangely satisfying (it hurts and is nice at the same time) to squeeze because of the hundreds of spikes, with the way i designed the ball it also has a mesmerizing look. Each row of spikes consists exactly of the same amount of spikes. The closer you get to the sides of the ball, the closer the spikes are together creating a really special look. It took me some time to get it exactly this way and i am really happy with the result.

 

Please print all the parts as they are in my provided print profile - everyhting is sized in a way that it fits. Screw the middle part in one half and then screw the other half on. Getting it perfectly aligned needs a little force but its more than doable. The resulting size of the ball should be perfect to squeeze it.

 

Note: When printing i had some loose filament strings on the inside of the sphere halfs where the threads are. I just removed them. It was still perfectly possible to screw in the middle part. Because of that i added a little more support for the threads in the profile. If it still happens to you, just remove the strings and screw in the middle part. The look on the inside of the sphere does not matter.
