Description

This project was born from a personal need: following an elbow injury, I was advised to limit movement, avoid strain, and prevent full arm extension. I designed this support to act as a physical reminder, inhibiting instinctive or sudden movements that could aggravate the injury.

Key Features

  • Custom Fit: This is not a static brace. It is designed to be thermo-formed. By using a heat gun or immersing the print in hot water for few seconds, the material becomes malleable, allowing you to mold it perfectly to the contour of your arm and your preferred angle.
  • Symmetry & Orientation: The model is symmetrical. To help you distinguish the top from the bottom after molding, I included a reference hole on one side.
  • Strap Ready: Integrated 20mm rectangular slots allow for easy attachment of velcro straps.
  • Optimized Thickness: The default 2mm thickness offers a balanced compromise between flexibility and support. For a heavy-duty, rigid version, I recommend scaling the Z-axis (or thickness) to 3mm.

Printing & Material Tips

  • Build Plate: Perfectly sized for the Bambu Lab A1 or similar 256x256mm beds.
  • Materials: 
    • PLA: Good for heat gun shaping.
    • PETG: Recommended if you prefer shaping it in hot water 
  • Nozzle: Works with 0.4mm, but a 0.8mm nozzle is recommended for maximum structural strength and faster printing.
