Description

This simple mod converts a manual foam sprayer into an electric pressure sprayer.

Instead of manually pumping the bottle, the pressure can be generated using a small portable tire inflator connected through a Schrader valve.

The printed holder keeps the compressor attached to the bottle so both parts can be handled as one unit.

This makes the sprayer much more convenient to use.

The model is still work in progress.

It was printed and tested using PLA, but other materials such as PETG or ASA may work better.

If you try other materials or improve the design, feel free to share your results.

Required Parts

Foam pump sprayer

Würth Perfect Foam 1.5L

Art. No.: 0891503021

Assembly

  1. Print the holder.
  2. Carefully drill a hole in the upper area of the plastic bottle.

The hole should match the diameter of the Schrader valve.

  3. Unscrew and remove the sprayer head from the bottle.
  4. Using pliers, insert the Schrader valve through the bottle opening and push it from the inside of the bottle through the drilled hole to the outside.
  5. Screw the supplied nut onto the valve from the outside, but only tighten it a few turns at first.
  6. Slide the printed holder over the bottle.
  7. Pull the valve slightly outward through the holder and fully tighten the nut.
  8. Fill the bottle with liquid, but do not fill it completely.

About ¾ full is recommended so enough air volume remains.

  9. Screw the sprayer head back onto the bottle.
  10. Place the compressor into the printed holder and connect the hose to the valve.

Usage

Use the portable compressor to pressurize the bottle.

During testing I used the compressor with a setting of up to 3 bar, but this should be done carefully.

The safe pressure limit of the sprayer is not fully known, so it is recommended to use about:

1.8 – 2 bar working pressure

This is already sufficient for good spraying performance.

Safety Notice

Do not exceed the pressure rating of the sprayer.

Use this modification at your own risk.
