These are jigs used with the Dahle 507 paper cutter to cut cards for the Bopster music game.
Â
Instructions (refer to the corresponding image in description for each step):
- First you need to make two manual cuts, on one short side and on one long side of the paper. This is because printers do not print 100% straight along the paper so you need to create two straight edges manually. To do this the first step is to use scissors to cut three of the corners so that you just touch the outer edge of the card. This will help you line the cut up on the machine because you can now see where the card starts.
- Manually cut one short side.
- Manually cut one long side.
- Use Jig #1 to cut the remaining short side
- Use Jig #2 to cut the remaining long side.
- Insert Jig #3 and cut the long side.
- Insert Jig #4 and cut the long side of the strip that has single row of cards.Â
- With Jig #4 cut the piece that has double rows of cards.
- With Jig #4 cut the pieces that has extra space. After this you should have three long strips with the long sides fully trimmed.
- Insert Jig #5 and use the right hand side to cut both ends of all three strips. This will give you six finished cards. This step has 6 cuts in total.
- With Jig #5 use the left hand side to cut one card off from the remaining two card strip.
- With Jig #5 for the card has extra space on only one side use the right hand side to finish it off.
- With Jig #5 for the card that has extra space on both sides, use the left hand side to cut off one side of space.
- With Jig #5 finish off the card from the previous step by cutting it on the right hand side.
- Repeat step 11 to 14 until all the cards are done.
The original model also has a video that shows you how to do it. I recommend using 250g or 300g paper if your printer can handle it. Fusion 360 file is attached if you need to tweak the measurements.
