Description

This is a infill density comparison display to visualize the differences between the varying percentages of infill.  As of publishing this model there are a total of 22 infills that are usable so there is a display for each one.  You will need to use the .3mf file as each infill object and line of text is it's own object and to make this work each has different properties assigned to them.  This is a follow up to my Bambu Studio Infill Comparison Display which quickly shows the differences between the different types.

Highlights:

  • There is a test print for testing the text labels flush with the surface or embossed above it
    • Print the test print first before picking the other models.
    • Based on that select the model with either Flush text or Embossed text depending on what looked the best on your printer.
  • Each infill type prints 6 densities:  10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 60%, and 80%.  There is very little change between 40/60 and 60/80 and at 100% it's just solid so none of those were included.
    • The sides of the model are labeled with these percentages
  • The model has been optimized for a 0.16mm layer height but you can use 0.2.  However you may lose a little quality, especially with the percentage text on the sides.
    • It can easily be resized also if you want a slightly smaller or much larger display.
  • Adaptive Cubic and Support Cubic are both automatic infills and as such vary themselves depending on distance from the wall.  Lightning also does the same based on the top layer it needs to support.  Because of this there is almost no reason to print these three infills as the density will show the same for each one.  They were only included for completeness.

Changing The Size

This model was designed to be easily resizable / scalable.  For example if you want larger individual pieces you can click one then click your “Scale” button.  Turn off “uniform scale” and make the X (width) and Y (length) the same number such as 130% and leave the Z (height) at 100% / 8mm..  You can then have examples that are bigger and easier to see details.

Further Refining the Print

You can also use ironing on the top layer to get it smoother and fill any small gaps.  Start out by doing a ironing calibration for the filament you are using such as this one.  Once you print it you should have one, or a couple, squares that are cleaner then others.  Go into your Quality settings and turn on ironing for “Top Surfaces” and enter the “Ironing speed” and “Ironing flow” from the calibration print.  It's recommended to only do this if you are using the Embossed text option as with the flush text it might smear the text.

NOTE: There are much more compact models out there comparing the different infill densities if you just want a quick reference guide.  This was made as a companion print to my full Bambu Infill Display and for those that want to actually display them.
