Description
A simple but beautiful self-watering plant pot with a textured fuzzy finish.
This is my first plant pot on MakerWorld, and I wanted to design something that is both aesthetic and functional.
The pot is a two-part system where the bottom part works as a water reservoir, turning it into a self-watering planter.
Just add a polyester rope through the center hole (not the drain holes), and the plant will slowly wick water from the reservoir.
Made to fit 3-5mm poly rope, i like to use 2 strings of 3 mm and push them through.
The sinking of the holes at the bottom is made for 8mm rubber pads, i like to use height 1.5mm on Them.
The outer surface uses Fuzzy Skin to create a nice textured finish.
The models in the photos are printed in PLA Wood, but many other filaments will work great as well.
• Opening: 108 mm
• Bottom footprint: 82 mm
The model can easily be scaled up or down.
I will also upload two additional versions of the upper pot:
I will soon update with PETG inserts for better waterproffness. Its not needed, but if you wanna print in pla wood and want to have it for long the PETG inserts will help protect the PLA.
Recommended settings (can be adjusted depending on filament and printer):
• Layer height: 0.2 mm
• Walls/Perimeters: 2–3 (3 recommended for better waterproofing)
• Top/Bottom layers: 3–5
• Infill: 10–15% (Gyroid or Grid works well)
• Supports: No
• Fuzzy Skin: Enabled for the outer walls (optional but recommended)
• PLA / PLA Wood – great for the decorative upper pot
• PETG – recommended for the reservoir for better waterproofing
Nozzle: 0.4 mm
Hope you like it — happy printing and happy planting! 🌿
