Description

An enclosed low-profile case for Halcyon Kyria (should fit other Kyria models too, but I haven't tested it)

The main defining feature is the translucent PETG strip in the middle that uses the underglow LEDs to give the keyboard a nice outline while still keeping the top and bottom plates a solid color. Apart from that it's a pretty standard case, I just wanted something enclosed and more “angular” compared to the default cases.

The top plates come in two configurations, one default and one with a cover for an encoder (the included 3mf file has both, make sure to delete the ones you don't want).

Printing instructions

If you don't have multimaterial printing:

  • 0.2mm for Top and Bottom parts, normal supports, PLA
  • 15% infill
  • For the middle part - translucent PETG, play around with layer heights and other settings to get the desired translucency

If you do have multimaterial printing:

  • Most settings remain the same
  • For the Bottom part, I recommend printing the inner surfaces in a brighter color (I used white PLA) - this doesn't change the look from the outside but it helps the underglow LEDs appear brighter
  • For the Middle and Top+encoder parts, use PETG as a support interface

Also, personally I prefer the surface finish that comes after ironing compared to the layer that sticks to the bed, so for my own keyboard I printed all the parts upside-down - with the “user-facing” surface at the top. This does use a lot more plastic (you have to use supports with a PETG interface), and took me quite a few attempts to get the finish that I wanted, so use at your own risk.
