Description
This is a small brick weep-hole insert designed to keep insects and debris out of masonry drainage holes while still allowing water to escape. It press-fits into drilled weep holes in brick veneer and includes a screened front face plus side drainage slots. The screen blocks insects and debris, while the slots allow water entering the wall cavity to drain out freely. The geometry is intentionally simple and 3D-print friendly, with chamfered edges and a support-free orientation. The model is parametric and designed in OpenSCAD, making it easy to adjust dimensions for different hole sizes.
The included model uses a 10.4 mm diameter body, which fit well in a 3/8" drilled hole in my brick veneer. Because masonry holes often end up slightly oversized or irregular, fine tuning will likely be necessary depending on your drill bit, brick type, and wall condition. Scaling may be required to achieve the best press fit.
Note:
Avoid printing directly from the Bambu Handy mobile app since scaling adjustments will likely be needed for your application. Printing from Bambu Studio (or another slicer) is recommended.
The front screen is generated using slicer infill. Add a cylinder modifier over the screen area and set:
This allows the infill pattern to form the screen. You can position the modifier using Align / Distribute tools in Bambu Studio to center it on the front face. The infill pattern and density can be adjusted in global print settings to control airflow and appearance of the screen.
This model was created in OpenSCAD, with iterative design assistance from ChatGPT.
