Description

Poop Scooper Claw - a sturdy mechanical claw for the easy picking up and disposal of poop, rubbish etc.

Recommended filaments; PETG, ABS, PC, ASA, etc. (Note: PLA will also work fine but the model may not prove to be robust in the longer term due to the brittle nature of PLA).

Printed Parts;

  • Left and Right Scoops (the scoops that pick up the poop)
  • Spring Mount is a small piece that inserts into the hole in the Axel Hub to support the 2 springs that will keep the Scoops closed
  • Axel Hub (mount for the Axels, Spring Mount and Axel Handles)
  • 2 x Axels (Axels that the 2 scoops rotate on)
  • 2 x Axel End Locks (these lock the scoops in place on the 2 axels)
  • Top and Bottom Handle Sleeves (these connect the axel handles to the outer handle)
  • Outer Handle (larger outside part of the handle)
  • Inner Handle (the lever that opens and closes the scoops)
  • Puller Arms (connects the inner handle to the scoops allowing them to be moved)
  • Handle Covers (covers that keep the inner and outer handle parts aligned during use)

Additional parts required;

  • 2 x M3 x 20mm bolts.
  • 2 x M3 x 24mm bolts.
  • 5 x M3 x 18mm bolts.
  • 9 x M3 nuts.
  • 2 x M3 washers.
  • 2 x small zip ties (or wire).
  • 2 x  ~7mm x 50mm wire extension springs.

Tools required;

  • M3 Allen Key
  • Small Hammer
  • Long Nosed Pliers/Small Pliers
  • Clippers/Hobby Knife

Build Instructions;

  1. Trim and remove all small support structures from all parts - esp. those where recesses for bolts/nuts exist (esp. sleeve and handle covers). Ensure the sides of the axels are smooth and free from any residual bumps left from where these are supported on the sides.
  2. Insert the ‘Spring Mount’ part into central hole of the Axel Mount part, position it with pliers so that the holes are both vertical and the Spring mount is centred within the Axel Mount place.
  3. Insert one Axel into the Axel Mount, tap it gently into place with the small hammer so it is firmly set into the Axel Mount
  4. Slide both Scoops onto the Axel mount assembly, and insert and tap the second axel into the mount through the opposite side loops of the scoops to complete the part, use the small hammer to ensure everything is firmly in place. Push the two Axel end locks into place on both axels to hold everything together as one. The scoops should both be able to move freely on the axel assembly.

    (Note: do not use any glue, it is not required and allows for later disassembly of the axels from the mount if required for future repairs).

  5. Insert the 2 Axel handle parts into the retangular holes at the top of the Axel Mount, secure them with 2 x M3x20 bolts + nuts
  6. Attach the Puller Arm part to the mounts on each side of the two Scoops using 2 x M3x24mm bolts + (washers + nuts).
  7. Attach the Inner Handle Part to Puller Arms part using 1 x M3 x 18mm bolt. (note: a nut is not required here)
  8. Assemble Bottom & Top Sleeves around Axel Handles, InnerHandle/PullerArms assembly & Outer Handle, secure with 4 x M3 x 18mm bolts + nuts.
  9. Attach the top and bottom handle covers to the outer handle part using 4 x M3 x 18mm bolts + nuts.
  10. Wind ends of the 2 extension springs one each onto to each side of the Spring Mount
  11. Attach the other ends of the springs to the 2 holes in the Puller Arms with 2 small zip ties, trim any excess with the Clippers/Knife.
