Just Another Benchy, Kind Of

I needed a small decorative boat for one of my upcoming projects — something that reads as Benchy without actually being Benchy. So I modeled my own version from scratch.

This is not a calibration tool. It won't tell you much about your printer’s bridging or overhangs — at least not in the way the original does. But it’s not completely useless as a test either: the arched openings in the cabin and the curved hull can still give you a sense of how your printer handles smooth surfaces and small interior details.

Mostly though, it’s just a boat.
A small, somewhat characterful object that sits on your desk and quietly does its job.

Part of something.
Coming soon.

Printing Notes

This model turned out to be a little trickier to print than expected. The geometry required some optimization, and the included print profile reflects that work — so it's worth sticking to the provided settings rather than experimenting too freely in the slicer.
The main weak point is the front cabin struts. Depending on your filament — matte PLA in particular tends to be less forgiving here — they can be fragile before the roof ties everything together. Keep this in mind if you decide to scale the model down, as smaller dimensions will only make things worse.

Scaling up, on the other hand, should be perfectly fine — and will likely make the struts more robust.
