Modular drawers for modular desk shelf

Modular Drawer System for the Desk Shelf

These modular drawers are designed to expand the functionality of the Modular Desk Shelf System, providing flexible storage that can be mounted anywhere along the shelf.

The drawers can be attached in two different ways:

• Using HSW connectors, which mount directly onto the existing walls of the system.
• Using narrow add-on walls, which can be installed when you want to place drawers in positions where no wall already exists.

This allows the drawers to be positioned almost anywhere in the system depending on your layout.

Sizes

There are two drawer sizes, both with the same depth:

• Small drawer: 85 mm wide × 200 mm deep
• Large drawer: 180 mm wide × 200 mm deep

Both drawer sizes use the same interchangeable tags, making it easy to swap labels between drawers.

Tag System

The tags are securely mounted using a small dovetail joint combined with a filament insert, which locks them firmly in place while still allowing them to be removed or swapped when needed.

I have included several example tags that you can use as-is or customize to suit your needs.

When modifying the text on the tags, the entire text will normally print in a different color than the rest of the tag. To minimize filament swaps, I recommend adjusting the slicer settings so that only the top two layers of the text use the second color. This way, the printer only needs one color change before switching back to the main color for the remainder of the print.

Back Panel

The back panel is printed separately and slides into place, creating a secure fit without requiring glue or fasteners.

Top Covers (Dust Protection)

There are two different top cover options available:

1. Top-mounted cover

This version sits on top of the wooden dowels, providing a clean and finished top surface while also protecting the drawers from dust.

Because the distance between walls differs depending on whether you use standard HSW walls or the narrow add-on walls, this version comes in multiple sizes.
Make sure to select the version that matches your wall configuration.

2. Under-dowel cover

This version sits under the wooden dowels and is designed for situations where you still want to use the dowels for other accessories, 

such as the Laptop stand shown in the photos, while still protecting the drawers from dust.

Print Notes

Some of the prints may appear slower than typical functional prints. This is intentional — I prioritized high surface quality and good fit for the parts. That said, I have optimized the models to keep print times as low as possible without compromising quality.
