Pine Bonsai Tree Kit 🌳

✨  Inspiration

Bonsai is more than just a miniature tree — it is a symbol of patience, balance, and the thoughtful shaping of nature. Creating bonsai is a slow process where every detail matters: every branch and every needle.

This project was created as an attempt to bring that idea into the world of 3D printing. The model represents a pine bonsai in the moyogi style, one of the most characteristic styles in bonsai art, where the trunk has a gently curved shape, often resembling the letter S.

🌿 Model Structure

The model consists of many elements that together form the structure of the tree. The trunk and limbs create the main form of the bonsai, while branches equipped with slots are mounted onto the limbs, where individual needles are inserted.

The limbs also feature special notches that allow them to be gently bent. This makes it possible to give the tree greater depth and a more spatial, natural appearance.

The tree is placed in a classic bonsai pot, with a base styled to resemble moss-covered soil.

🧩 Building Process

Just like with a real bonsai, the model requires patience and a steady hand. The needles must be gently bent and shaped to give the tree a more natural and organic look.

To make working with the small parts easier, I designed a Needle Tool that helps with shaping the needles, inserting them into the branches, and pressing the branches onto the limbs.

Using the Needle Tool:

I. Shaping the needles

II. Attaching the needles to the branches

III. Attaching the branches to the limbs

🔧 Assembly

A complete documentation package is included, containing the filament color list, model dimensions, parts list, and assembly instructions.

Patience brings beautiful results — this is the spirit of bonsai 🌳
