Description
This spool adapter is designed to allow the use of large 199mm diameter spools that normally won't fit the AMS or AMS Pro, eliminating the need for tedious respooling.
Credit: The original design is by the maker Lev 3DD (check out his amazing models here: https://www.printables.com/@Lev3DD).
Assembly: The adapter consists of 4 pieces that must be glued to the inside edges of the spool. Use strong glue! You definitely don't want them detaching mid-print.
Hardware: You can use small screws, but ensure the screw heads sit perfectly flush. If they protrude, they will hit the AMS walls and block the spool rotation.
Clearance (AMS Pro): When using the AMS Pro, you might need to print an additional riser/adapter for the rollers. Because the resulting diameter is much larger than standard Bambu spools, the adapter might hit the AMS back wall or the front feeder.
✅ PROS:
❌ CONS:
Is this the perfect solution? Honestly, NO! Is it even a good solution? Not even.
If you are dealing with large spools (like Amazon Basics) that are incompatible with the AMS Pro, your best bet is still to print or buy a standard Bambu-sized spool and respool the filament. You can do this with a dedicated respooler or get creative with a DIY setup like mine:
