This is a super strong pegboard joiner integrated with a standoff, compatible with Ikea SKÅDIS. The model combines a joiner for pegboards with a pegboard standoff. It is a redesign of a previous model. The previous model is fully 3D printed, whereas the model here uses M4 bolts and nuts for strength.
- super strong and reliable (can take heavy loads)
- looks similar to, and is interchangeable with, the Ikea SKÅDIS standoff (has the same thread and shape)
- no print supports needed (internal sagging may occur but it is not visible)
- additional components needed 2 of M4 16mm, hex head bolts and nuts.
This is for joining pegboards vertically. If you want to join them horizontally, please see my other model.
Assembly
The print comes in 7 parts:
- 1 joiner, which has lugs on the top that fit into the pegboard
- 2 knobs, each is a disk that look just like the equivalent commercial part, which has a screwdriver slot on top
- 2 washers, each is a thin flat disks with a hole in it
- 2 fillers, each is a small rectangular part with two prongs on one side.
You will also need:
- 2 M4 16mm hex head bolts (similar lengths may also work),
- 2 M4 head head nuts.
Key points in the assembly process are shown in the photos. Here are the steps.
- The slots in the joiner do not have print support. Check the joiner slots and holes for any obstructions, removing any filament that did not properly adhere.
- Insert the M4 bolt into the knob, such that the head of the bolt is fully inside the knob. Do this for both bolts.
- Slide a washer over the bolt and seat the washer into the knob. If the washer is loose that is okay. Do this for both bolts.
- Insert a nut into a slot of the joiner and slide the nut into the recess (see photo). I find it helpful to use a bolt to position and pull the nut into place, but you may use other tools. Do this for both nuts - one each each slot.
- Insert a filler into a slot of the joiner, prongs in first. The filler is tapered to match the taper of the joiner - the face of the filler that was on the build plate should be up, i.e., towards the lugs on the joiner. Warning: only insert the fillers after the nuts are properly in place in the joiner. Once a filler is pressed in, it can only be removed destructively. Do this for both fillers - one for each slot.
Now you can use the joiner to connect two pegboards (see photos).
