Durable, Lightweight French Cleats

Overview

These french cleats are lightweight, yet strong, and are easily installed by screwing onto the back of the object you want to hang. Please note that I have not yet tested the strength of the cleats to the point of breaking; it is your responsibility to consider what load is reasonable given the materials you printed with.

Specifications

This lightweight version of a french cleat mount is only 17g each to print. It is suitable for ¾" plywood cleats, which means 23/32" in thickness (18.26mm). The cleats are 2" wide and just under 2" tall (the sharp nose is blunted to allow the cleat to sit snugly into the wall cleat even if there is some dust).

 

Screw holes are counter-sunk and suitable for #8 wood screws.

 

Printing is oriented to require no supports, yet keep layer lines from running across the narrow tip, which would otherwise be a weak point.
