Description
Now YOU have a machine gun! HO HO HO!
This is my new MP5 triple action fidget. It is built around the iconic “HK Slap” and it's a LOT of fun. Enjoy racking and slapping the charging handle, swapping out magazines and working the printed-spring trigger all in one cool squished-down MP5 package.
It is HIGHLY recommended to play the unofficial anthem of both the MP5 and the 3D printing communities, The HK Slap music video by Print Shoot Repeat while you are printing and assembling this model. Real talk, that might be the best 2 minutes and 59 seconds on the entire internet.
Thanks for checking out my designs, if you like my work I always appreciate a profile rating or a boost!
Now, speaking of assembly, let's begin…
Non- 3D printed materials list:
Required - One rubber band
Strongly Recommended - Super glue
Step one - wrap your rubber band around one of the included installation tools. There are two sizes so you can use different length rubber bands. A lot of sizes worked in testing, but shorter bands give a crisper slap. Locate the square hole through the barrel down to the rubber band anchor hook.
Step Two - Fish the tool & rubber band through the hole and find the anchor hook. Slip the rubber band off the tool and press it into the anchor hook with your finger tip. Please note the version pictured has had some material removed to show the anchor hook. The posted profile will be a tighter fit, this is necessary for the magazine to fit snugly. Use one of the supplied tools to install the rubber band into the mag well if needed.
Step Three - install the “bolt.” This seemed best explained by a very video short. Here's a link to the install video. Basically, hook the rubber band around this section of the bolt. Stretch the rubber band a few times and slide it into the receiver. If it binds up pull it back out and repeat. Don't force it, less pressure tends to work better. I've installed this about 50 times in testing so don't be discouraged if it takes a few tries to get the rubber band to find the channel under the bolt and pop into place, it eventually will and then it will be good to go forever. Push the bolt all the way down in there with your finger, then thread the charging handle into the hole on the bolt.
Step Four - Carefully but firmly press the rear sight into place.
Step Five - Install the trigger. It is offset so it can't accidentally go in upside down. Insert the spring portion into the channel, then just pull it (almost like… a trigger!?). There's a click-through point where it will set in there, you'll feel it. It should depress freely and bounce right back after that initial hard pull.
Step Six - Install the dowels between the main body sections and into the rear facing the butt plate. This is a GREAT place for a few drops of superglue gel, indicated by the red arrows below. I tested this model a lot, because of the variation in PLAs I had on hand, some pieces press-fit perfectly, some were a little loose. Press these sections together, hold them for a few extra seconds for that glue to set and you're done!
Step Seven - Embrace your inner John McClain and function check every part. Over and over again. To the provided soundtrack, and much to the chagrin of everyone else within earshot. “Ich habe ein MP5 I give a little slap!” Sing it with me!
If you made it this far, I am grateful you were able to join me for this print. I hope your version comes out perfect! This is my first “functioning parts” print and I had fun figuring out all of the little sub components. I check in on MakerWorld regularly so please rate this print & let me know what goes well for you and what might be challenging. I've tested it a lot but I'm still open to feedback. And if you like my work I always appreciate a boost. Thanks again!
Boost MeLet me know if I should design another print like this, if so, which gun would you want? Please support my design hobby with a good rating or boost.
