Don't Panic Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy

No AMS needed

 

 

This is a small fan project I created for my son’s school — and at the same time, a hands-on way for me to develop my skills in Fusion 360.

 

The constructor consists of three elements:

 

• a black base plate,
• a yellow silhouette insert,
• and red letters that snap perfectly into place on top.

 

 

All parts are carefully designed to fit together with a precise snap-fit — giving that highly satisfying “click” when assembling.

 

The “Don’t Panic” logo is a reference to the iconic The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, adding a playful touch for those who recognize it.

 

Through this project, I explored:

 

• outline and offset techniques,
• precision fitting (press-fit design),
• multi-layered modeling,
• and preparing models for real-world assembly.

 

 

 

Originally made as a gift for a classroom, it turned into a great learning experience in both Fusion 360 and thoughtful, tactile design — where even simple interactions can feel rewarding.
