Crockpot Lid Handle Upgrade

This model was born out of necessity when my wife dropped our crockpot lid and shattered the original handle. Instead of just replacing it, I decided to engineer a version that actually solves a few common kitchen frustrations.

Key Features

  • Anti-Roll Flat Top: I designed the top of the handle to be perfectly flat. This allows you to set the lid upside down on the counter without it wobbling or tipping over, keeping condensation contained.
  • Hygienic Design: The handle features a small gap between the glass and the plastic, plus drainage holes on top, to prevent water from getting trapped and getting gross during washing.
  • Original Hardware Compatibility: Designed to reuse the original screw, washer, and threaded insert from a standard crockpot handle.

Hardware Installation

This model is designed for a mid-print hardware insertion.

  1. Slice the model and add a Pause at the layer where the internal cavity for the threaded insert is capped (check your slicer preview!).
  2. Drop the brass threaded insert into the slot.
  3. Resume the print to lock it permanently inside the PETG.

Note: This model uses supports but you'll need to make sure to manually remove the supports inside the threaded insert cavity or you won't be able to insert it mid print!

Material Warning & Disclaimer

I printed this version in Jet Black PETG Prusament. While PETG has a higher heat deflection temperature than PLA, some community members have noted that it may still soften or deform under the high-temperature steam of a crockpot over long periods (4–8+ hours).

Current Status: It is holding up perfectly so far in my kitchen, but use your best judgment. For maximum heat resistance, you may want to consider printing this in ASA or Polycarbonate.
