Flexi Spike Ball – Recycle Contest Edition

Remix of my original Flexi Beanbag V1 by Samui Circus

🎪 About this model

Meet the Flexi Spike Ball — a remix of my own original Flexi Beanbag V1, now transformed with spikes inspired by spiky fruits like durian, jackfruit, and more! 🌵🍈

This model was specially created for the Pi-Guy Filament Recycling Design Contest on MakerWorld. The spiky shell makes it look wild and feel amazing in the hand — flexible, bouncy, and totally unique.

🔄 What I changed from the original Flexi Beanbag V1

  • Added spikes all around the ball for a durian / spiky fruit-inspired look
  • Optimized geometry for printing with mixed/recycled scrap filament
  • Kept the flexible, squeezable beanbag feel of the original

Boost Me🙏Flexi Balls started as a way to turn my 3D printing waste into something useful.

🤹 As a performer and father, I’m building this project from home to support my family while creating sustainable circus tools.🤡🎪

Your boost directly helps me expand this small workshop and develop better recycled production systems.

Thank you for being part of this journey.🙏

🛠️ How to Assemble

⚠️for assembly: wear protective gloves and use needle-nose pliers to help snap the tiles together — it makes the process much easier and safer!

For full assembly instructions, please refer to the original Flexi Beanbag V1 model page (link above).

Filling options — get creative and recycle! ♻️ The inside can be filled with all kinds of recycled materials:

  • 🟡 3D printing waste — purge poop, failed prints, support scraps, anything leftover from your printer!
  • 🎈 Balloons — cut up old balloons or recycle inner tubes from bike tires for a bouncy, rubbery fill
  • 🚲 Recycled rubber — bike tire inner tubes cut into small pieces work great for a heavier, hard-impact ball
  • 🧪 Experiment freely! — sand, pellets, rubber bits… every fill gives a different feel and weight

💡 Tip: For juggling or hard impact use, we recommend filling with recycled rubber from bike inner tubes. It gives great weight and bounce!

♻️ Filament Recycling Tip

This model is the perfect project for using up leftover spools and filament scraps. Mix colors freely — with the spikes, every print looks like a wild tropical fruit! 🌈

Don't throw away your 3D print waste — stuff it inside the ball! Purge poop, failed prints, support material — it all becomes the filling. Zero waste, 100% fun. 🌱

🖨️ Recommended Print Settings

  • Material: PLA or PETG (recycled scraps welcome!)
  • Infill: 20–30%
  • Supports: Not needed
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm
  • Plate: Bambu Textured PEI Plate

💡 Tip: PETG gives a slightly more flexible and impact-resistant result compared to PLA — great for juggling use!
