Description

This is a super lightweight modular Bambu spool system designed for maximum flexibility and material reuse.

The goal of this project is to help you reuse leftover filament and free your original spools by rewinding small amounts of filament onto a dedicated lightweight spool system.

What’s included:

  • Lightweight spool models for multiple capacities: 200g, 250g, 300g, 350g, 400g, 450g, 500g, 550g, 600g, and 1kg
  • Two interchangeable inner spool cores (Inner spool cores are mainly intended for rewinding existing filament)
  • Full-size Bambu-compatible core
  • Half-size core for reduced filament capacity
  • Modular system: all parts are fully interchangeable and combinable

Accuracy & Spool Sizing

I have carefully designed and tested the spool sizes to better match the actual weight of filament rolls.

I have measured multiple filament rolls and found that the actual weight can vary significantly, likely due to differences in winding.

Because of this, each spool model has been individually sized to better reflect real-world filament weights.

In the preview images, you can see:

  • how each spool should be measured
  • how to properly match your filament to the correct spool size

⚠️ Compatibility Note

This spool design is NOT compatible with the original Bambu Lab AMS system, due to its reduced diameter and lightweight structure.

However, it IS compatible with AMS Lite, where the roller system allows proper movement of the spool.

Please make sure to check your system before printing.

Adapter feature:

A special adapter replaces the original cardboard core and allows you to:

  • Rewind filament from random or non-standard spools
  • Transfer leftover filament easily
  • Combine with the half-size core to reduce capacity (e.g. a 400g spool becomes ~200g capacity)

Purpose:

This system is designed to:

  • Reduce filament waste
  • Reuse leftover filament efficiently
  • Free your original spools for new filament
  • Improve organization and storage of partial rolls

⚙️ Notes:

  • Inner spool cores are mainly intended for rewinding existing filament
  • All parts are designed to be lightweight and easy to print
  • Fully modular system – mix and match components depending on your needs
