I designed this cap to upcycle plastic bottles into effective insect traps, perfect for protecting your fruit trees and olive groves.
Key Features:
- Universal Compatibility: Designed to fit the threading of standard carbonated drink bottles (soda bottles), which are typically stronger.
- Color Attraction: I highly recommend printing this in yellow filament, as the color is naturally attractive to many harmful insects.
- Weather Protection: Just like the most popular commercial traps, it features a top cover (rain shield) to prevent rainwater from diluting the bait, making it last much longer.
- Easy Mounting: The cap includes a built-in loop at the top for a string, making it easy to hang from branches.
- Eco-Friendly: Fight harmful pests effectively without the use of pesticides.
Print Settings & Material:
- Material: I highly recommend using PETG. Since the trap will be exposed to direct sunlight and outdoor conditions, PETG offers much better UV resistance and weather durability than PLA, ensuring it won't warp or become brittle.
- Supports: This model is designed to be printed without any supports, making it a quick and easy print.
How to Use:
Simply fill the bottle with an attractant solution tailored to the specific pest you want to target (e.g., vinegar, sugar water, or protein baits), screw on the 3D-printed cap, and hang it in your garden!
