Description

Parametric Print‑in‑Place Box with Dual Hinge

A fully parametric print‑in‑place box designed with a dual‑hinge system that allows the lid and base to have different heights. Before downloading, you can enter your preferred dimensions directly in MakerWorld, making the box adaptable for everything from tiny components to larger workshop items. The hinge system prints fully assembled, and the geometry is optimized so most printers can produce clean results in PLA even without support, though support is enabled by default in the model.

Size Range

This design is fully scalable within practical FDM limits. You can generate boxes from 40 × 20 × 40 mm (Width × Height × Depth) and up to the maximum size your printer can handle.

  • Width: Up to your printer’s full build width
  • Height + Depth: The combined dimension of 2 × Height + 2 × Depth must fit within your printer’s build depth

This ensures the dual‑hinge layout prints reliably at any chosen size.

Features

  • Dual‑hinge design for stable motion and flexible lid‑to‑base proportions
  • Fully parametric: enter your custom dimensions before download
  • Prints as a single assembled piece
  • Designed for reliable hinge action and solid overall feel

Instructions

The hinge is intentionally tight to give the box a solid, durable feel. After printing, loosen it by gently rotating the two halves back and forth around the hinge using small, controlled movements until it releases. The hinge tolerance is only 0.2 mm, so avoid printing with slicer tolerances or horizontal expansion values larger than this. Accurate dimensional settings ensure the hinge unlocks cleanly and moves as intended.
