Dual Textured Rock Climbing Crimp Hold (Screw-On)

This is a 3D printed climbing hold I designed and tested on my own wall. It’s a smaller crimp-style hold, meant to be simple but still usable, with a textured grip that actually feels decent in hand. The grip area uses fuzzy skin to give it that rougher feel, while the rest of the hold stays smoother so it doesn’t look or feel messy. It printed clean on my setup and feels solid under body weight, but like anything 3D printed, strength is going to depend a lot on your settings, material, and how well it’s mounted.

 

I printed this on a Bambu Lab P1S in PETG/PETG+, which I’d recommend for strength and durability, especially if you’re using it outside. The default settings are what I use for all my holds as they feel the nicest without being overly long to print, but feel free to tweak them to your needs. Also, while the fuzzy skin does add grip (if you are going to use this as a real hold, see disclaimer below as well), I'd recommend using an aggressive sandpaper on the texture portion to break up the plasticky slipperiness and lightly chalk it for optimal grip. Finally, I made this specific hold dualtex cause I like the look, but if you'd prefer the whole thing textured then simply remove the big round rectangular modifier and that'll just keep the screw holes unfuzzied. 

 

This hold is designed to be mounted with screws rather than bolts, so it’s better suited for lighter use, footholds, or controlled climbing setups rather than anything super aggressive. Placement and mounting matter a lot here, so make sure it’s secured properly before using it. I personally use #9 deck screws, but feel free to scale it up or down for your specific screws.

 

This is a 3D printed climbing hold and should be used at your own risk. Strength depends heavily on print settings, material, and installation. I recommend using strong materials, sufficient wall count, and proper mounting. Always test holds close to the ground before full use. I am not responsible for any injuries or damage resulting from use. I personally recommend using this as solely a training tool. Home wall usage, no really dynamic moves, fingerboard type training should hold up fine, but of course always take precaution if you do end up using this as a real hold.
