Description
This model represent the circunference of the Sun in 1 : 1'188'500'000 scale to add a complete Sun reference to my Complete Solar System model 1:1'188'500'000 scale using the same scale as the other planets, moons, etc., in the main model.
The model can be printed using either small or large printing plates and is assembled from 18 smaller or 36 bigger identical circular pieces that fit together like pieces of a circular puzzle (similar to various wooden toy train tracks), allowing it to be assembled, disassembled, and stored in a small box when not in use. The resulting circumference is of 117 cm (46,063 inches) diameter ∅.
Complete Sun circumference in 1:1'188'500'000 scale resulting in a 117 cm (46,063 inches) ∅ diameter
Just 150 g of PLA to create all parts sturdy and durable
The pieces can also be permanently attached by gluing them together
108.57 x 17.71 x 4 mm
This model is an upgrade and addition compatible with the model Complete Solar System model 1:1'188'500'000 scale downloadable here https://makerworld.com/en/models/446109-complete-solar-system-model-1-1-188-500-000-scale, a model of the solar system featuring all the planets, Pluto, the major moons of the planets, and Saturn’s rings in relief, with model data available for download as a PDF and spreadsheet
The individual pieces of the circumference are to be joined using the special interlocking joints at the ends, similar to “wooden toy train tracks.” This joint allows for easy assembly and disassembly. The tolerances have been designed so that the pieces fit together and hold each other in place, while also allowing for easy removal. The assembled pieces should be placed on a flat surface. It is normal for the pieces to have some play between them; this is to accommodate minor imperfections in the pieces and allow for a certain degree of freedom in the individual parts.
To make the parts printable for everyone, two versions are available: one in which the circumference is obtained by joining 18 identical parts with a 20° arc, each slightly less than 25 cm long; or by joining 36 identical parts with a 10° arc, each slightly less than 12 cm long. Those with a large printing plate should prefer the 18-piece version; those with a smaller or limited printing plate should print fewer pieces along the plate’s diagonal or use the 36-piece version.
Combine 2 pieces of the 36-small-piece version = 1 piece of the 18-big-piece version
This set is an add-on to the Complete Solar System Model 1:1,188,500,000 scale. For more information, downloadable resources including model data in PDF format and an editable Excel spreadsheet, 3D files of all planets and major moons are available and please refer to the main model page and description of the

Print profile contain 5 plates, not all of them need to be printed!. The print profile contain:
Only the two plates from the 18 or 36 plate version need to be printed; if necessary, print the pattern test plate first for testing purposes.
The current print profile settings were chosen to produce parts that are more resistant to bending by using a circular pattern that creates lines running along the length of the part in infill and bottom and upper surface pattern (and not monotonic lines).
If the circular pattern doesn’t work for you as bottom and upper layer finish and you prefer a monotonic pattern, feel free to choose it, but printing times will increase several minutes since there are more small paths to execute, which extends the time.
Sometimes a circular surface pattern leaves a less-than-optimal finish but it is best suited for the geometry of the curved segments that make up the circumference. I still recommend using circular patterns for both the bottom and top layers, but if you want to try something different, I’ve added a plate with two test small parts featuring different patterns so you can evaluate which one has the best finish with your printer before printing all 18 or 36.
The print profile includes 2 plates for the 36-piece version and 2 plates for the 18-piece version to complete the circumference.
Prefer the 18-piece version, but if your printer has a build plate smaller than 250 x 250 mm, use the 36-piece version, which can be printed on a 180 x 180 mm plate.
If you encounter any issues in plate space, print less pieces diagonally in the plate.
