Description

This is an upgraded version of my original self-watering globe, now featuring a fully parametric flow control lid for precise water regulation.

 

🔹 What’s new?
The V2 version introduces an optional adjustable lid that allows you to fine-tune water flow without changing the main model.

 

🔧 Adjustable Flow Control
The lid acts as a flow regulator, helping you control how fast water is released into the soil.

 

You can easily customize:
Lid ON / OFF
Hole diameter → smaller = slower drip
Number of holes → more holes = faster flow

 

💡 Why this matters
Water flow in self-watering globes is affected by:
soil moisture
air pressure inside the globe
outlet size

 

👉 Even a 0.2 mm change in hole size can significantly impact performance.

 

The adjustable lid makes it easy to tune the behavior for different plants and environments.
🌱 Recommended setups
Small plants → 0.6–0.8 mm holes + lid ON
Medium plants → 0.8–1.0 mm
Large pots → 1.0–1.2 mm or lid OFF

✔ No need to reprint the whole globe

 

⚙️ Print Recommendation
Material: PETG (recommended)
Layer height: 0.2 mm
Walls: 3–4 perimeters
Infill: 5–10%

 

⚠️ Note
PLA may work for short-term use, but PETG is strongly recommended for better sealing and durability.
