Description

I came up with this design for a skimmer which can be added to the Juwel Bioflow M outlet. It uses the venturi effect an requires no further motor / power.

With proper adapters this might also work for other aquarium filter systems.

Design & Features

  • Easy to print in PETG - Supports required.
  • Easy to mount, no modifications on the Juwel filter required.
  • Floating, self adjusting to water level.
  • Highly compact design for a good look.
  • Easy to remove for cleaning.
  • Skimmer continuously rotates, no additional power / motor required.
  • Completely silent.
  • Adjustable skimmer flow by turning the tube
  • No glue or screws required for assembly.
  • Outlets with different angles available.

Assembly

1. Plugin the tube (blue) into the main body which (red) will connect to the Bioflow filter. You need to rotate it into the correct position so that the angle on the bottom of the tube faces away from the BioFlow filter.

2. Plugin the outlet tube (green).

3. Remove the original outlet tube on the Bioflow filter and attach the new one.

4. Place the skimmer (yellow) on top of the tube (blue).

5. Adjust the skimmer flow by turning the tube (blue).

Other Hints

  • V2 is improved for a more reliable flow which avoids air bubbles more reliably.
  • Different outlet tubes with different angles available, you only need to print the one you want.
  • Do not print the skimmer with supports! It has built in air chambers which must remain hollow to keep it floating.
  • No commercial use, contact me if needed.
