🤖 Mudwalker – Modular Articulated Mech (Print-in-Place)
Meet Mudwalker — a compact, multipurpose mech designed for versatility, customization, and smooth articulation. Built as a flexible platform, it can be easily adapted for different roles — from utility work to custom loadouts.
Most of the model prints fully assembled, with moving parts right off the build plate.
🔧 Features
- ✅ Print-in-place articulated legs and arms
- ✅ Fully poseable mech body
- ✅ Working opening hatch
- ✅ Detailed mechanical hands with movable fingers
- ✅ Modular design for upgrades and customization
🧩 Modularity
Mudwalker is designed as a platform, not just a static model:
🧩 Assembly
- Legs and arms are print-in-place
- Fingers are printed separately and connected using 1.75mm filament pins
- Cut small filament pieces and insert them to assemble fingers
⚠️ Important – First Movement
Joints are slightly fused by design for reliable printing.
👉 Before use:
- Carefully “snap” each joint free
- Apply slow, controlled pressure
- You should feel a small “click” as joints release
- Do this gently to avoid damage
Once released, joints should move smoothly.
⚠️ Important – Print Orientation
- Hands and legs must be printed in the exact orientation provided in the print profile
- Changing orientation may cause hinges to fuse or fail
🧪 Print Settings (Tested)
- Material: PLA (works great)
- Layer height: 0.16 mm
- Supports: ✅ Auto-generated supports used
- Infill: 15%
💡 Tips
- Remove supports carefully around joints and hatch
- Work joints gradually if they feel stiff
- Slight scaling (99–100%) can tune joint tightness
- A small amount of lubricant can improve motion
- Some details may need a bit of sanding to fit more easily.
