OutIn Mino - Ultra-Rugged Outdoor Travel Case
If you own an OutIn Mino, you know it’s a game-changer for getting a perfect espresso anywhere. However, tossing it into a backpack full of hiking gear or leaving it in a hot car can be risky.
I designed this two-piece protective shell for those who want to protect their gear from bumps, scratches, and heat during outdoor adventures. It is a "print and play" system: the two components screw together perfectly without the need for screws, gaskets, or extra hardware.
Design Features
- Full Protection: Custom-fit for the Mino, it wraps securely around the machine to prevent any rattling.
- Zero Hardware: The screw-lock mechanism is integrated directly into the 3D model.
- Premium Look & Feel: The version shown in the photos was printed using Fuzzy Skin and Random Seamplacement. This not only provides an incredible grip but also completely hides the layer lines, giving it a professional industrial look rather than a typical 3D print.
Technical & Print Details
For the prototype in the photos, I used a Bambu Lab X2D with ASA-CF filament.
- Material Choice: I highly recommend using ASA, ABS, or PETG. Please avoid PLA: if you leave the case in a car or on the beach under the sun, the heat will cause deformations that could make the screw threads impossible to open.
- Supports: For the version with the embossed "OutIn" logo, I utilized the second extruder with dedicated support material. This ensures a flawless finish on the lettering and the overhanging profiles.
What’s included in the files:
I have provided three different print profiles to suit your needs:
- "Hardcore" Profile (As seen in photos): Optimized for ASA/ABS, featuring the OutIn logo and Fuzzy Skin settings. Requires support material for the logo details.
- "Smooth & Fast" Profile: A clean version without the side logo. This eliminates overhang issues and prints much faster and without Fuzzy Skin.
- "Standard" Profile: A simplified version for those who want to print in ABS/PETG without using dedicated support filament.
Pro Tip: If you want the ultimate aesthetic, use a Carbon Fiber (CF) reinforced filament and enable Fuzzy Skin—the result is honestly stunning.
Happy brewing and happy printing!
