Tired of standard cable boxes that don't quite fit your specific power strip or desk setup?
This is a fully parametric cable management box. Using the MakerWorld Customizer, you can generate a box that perfectly matches your hardware down to the millimeter. If you think anyone else might need your design, do not hesitate to take a picture and upload it as a print profile!
KEY FEATURES
- Completely Customizable Dimensions: Enter the exact length, width, and height of your power strip or USB hub.
- 8 Exterior Patterns: Choose from ribbed grooves, precision chevrons, classic semicircles, and more to match your aesthetic.
- Base and multicolor: Besides the different style, printing the base and the lid in a different color than the pattern can make it look more unique.
- Custom Routing: Toggle exact counts for left, right, front, and back cable slots. Add 45-degree corner slots if needed.
- Auxiliary Ports: Enable bottom or top charge ports on the front face for easy phone charging access.
- Zero Hardware Required: The lid uses a designed tolerance gap to drop in and fit perfectly. No screws, no glue, no magnets.
- Print-in-Place Ready: The lid is designed to print completely flat with zero supports required.
CRUCIAL: HOW TO PRINT BOTH PARTS PERFECTLY
Because the MakerWorld customizer does not save your state between exports, you must export both parts without changing any dimensions in between.
- Select "Box and Lid" from the Render Options dropdown to preview.
- Tweak all your sliders until the size and pattern look perfect.
- Change Render Options to "Box Only" and hit Generate/Download.
- DO NOT TOUCH ANY OTHER SLIDERS.
- Change Render Options to "Lid Only" and hit Generate/Download.
CUSTOMIZATION TIPS
- Measure your power strip and add 10-15mm of breathing room for the cables to bend comfortably.
- If you increase the corner radius significantly, make sure you don't push your cable slots completely off the straight edges.
PRO-TIP
Stick four small adhesive rubber feet to the bottom corners. It elevates the box slightly and stops it from sliding across your desk when you pull a cable.
PRINT SETTINGS
- Material: PETG or ABS/ASA is highly recommended if your power strip gets warm. PLA is fine for standard, low-draw USB hubs.
- Supports: None required.
- Infill: 15% Gyroid or Grid.
- Brim: Not strictly necessary, but highly recommended for larger box sizes to prevent corner warping on the base.
