Description

🥑 AVO — Avocado Storage Container

AVO is an avocado-shaped storage container for the kitchen or countertop — functional, characterful, and a little self-aware.

The model comes in two configurations: a single-color version and a multi-color assembly version, where the outer shell, flesh insert, and seed are printed separately in different filaments and bonded together.

Single-color version:

  • lid
  • bowl — available in three variants:
    • plain flat bottom
    • with a seed imprint (as if the pit was just removed)
    • with a protruding seed

Multi-color assembly version:

  • lid
  • bowl
  • flesh insert — available in two variants:
    • with a seed cavity — simulates the look of a freshly halved avocado with the pit removed
    • flat — as a base for attaching the protruding seed on top
  • seed

This model is part of my UnboringHousehold collection — everyday objects designed with a little more intention. Feel free to explore the rest of the collection here: NotJustHousehold

The lid may fit snugly — a simple trick to open it: gently squeeze the sides of the lid while lifting.

💡 Printing notes

The skin texture is achieved through the fuzzy skin feature in your slicer — no special setup required. Feel free to experiment with the fuzzy skin parameters to get your preferred texture intensity.

For the multi-color assembly version, bond the parts together after printing using a food-safe adhesive — look for products explicitly labeled as food-safe or approved for food contact.

⚠️ Food storage note

If you plan to use this container for actual food storage: the simplest option is to print in natural or white PLA. For any filament color, applying a food-grade epoxy coating to the interior surfaces will seal the layer structure and make it safe for food contact. Look for epoxy products certified to FDA 21 CFR 175.300 — such as Smooth-On Epoxy SC 320 or ArtResin. Make sure the coating is fully cured (typically 72 hours) before use. If you need to bond parts together, use a food-safe adhesive — look for products explicitly labeled as food-safe or approved for food contact.
