Description
A well-functioning police department needs a station that offers them the amenities to assist in their job duties. This one has a welcoming visitor lobby at the entrance and a secure Sally port for transferring prisoners towards the rear. Offices are on the upper levels with a heliport on the roof. There is amble parking up front and a secure fenced area in the back.
To operate the sally port, turn the control knob so that it points to “IN”. The door opens, allowing the police car to drive inside. Once inside the knob is again centered, closing the door, allowing for the secure prisoner transfer. Once done, the knob is turn so that it points to “OUT”. The door opens and the police car drives out. Once out, the knob is returned to the center and the door will close. The gates into and out of the back lot are spring loaded and close once a car has passed through.
Filament considerations.
The windows look black but are actually a very dark blue. Here I have used Polymaker’s PLA pro metallic blue which adds to the blueness of the building while being nearly black.
Sidewalks are hard to match color. They are grey when freshly poured but become bleached from the sun over time and evolve into an off white. I have been using Overture PLA pro champagne for the sidewalks although most off white filaments will likely work. Bambu’s white marble PLA also works for sidewalks.
Printing considerations.
The 2nd roof might have problems with lifting while printing on some printers. If that is the case, turn brims on.
If printing on an X or P series printer, it is best to turn off the auxiliary fan. Otherwise, one is likely to get ripple marks across the large flat pieces. The best way to do this is by setting the auxiliary fan to 0 in the filament profiles.
