Description

So, I’ve always felt that the original PTFE release design on the Bambu Lab X1C doesn’t work very well in real use.

The black piece on top of the extruder is designed with a sliding groove — I get the intention. But in practice, I always end up tightening the screws a bit too much, worrying they might loosen over time, and potentially dropped into the tool head. As a result, the sliding mechanism becomes too stiff, and I can’t really press it down to release the PTFE tube.

 

It wasn’t a serious problem.
I could always remove the toolhead cover and push it down with an Allen key.

And honestly, I just got used to that process…

 

Until I didn’t.

 

After taking some measurements and modeling it properly, I came up with this simple replacement part — and it completely removes that extra step for good. 

 

To Install:

  1. Replace the original top piece with the 3D printed version. 
  2. Press-fit in the printed release plunger into place.

After the simple tweak, the PTFE tube can now be released directly by hand, without removing the head cover or using any tools.


Hope this works for some of you that struggled with the same process. It's different now. Cheers.

 

*To ensure long-term durability, I recommend printing this part in ASA or ABS, as they can better withstand the elevated temperatures during printing. PETG should work fine. PLA is not recommended.
