Magnetic Shelf for Figurines, Plants, More

I designed this simple, no-frills shelf to display figurines in my office. Since my walls are magnetic, I added magnetic tape to the back, which makes it easy to mount without screws or adhesive.

 

The shelf works on any magnetic surface, such as fridges, freezers, metal cabinets, or toolboxes. So it’s fairly versatile beyond just display use.

 

It’s intentionally minimal to keep print time and material usage low, while still being sturdy enough for lightweight items like small plants, collectibles, or desk accessories.

 

Notes:

• Designed for use with adhesive magnetic tape (applied to the back)
• Best suited for lightweight objects
• You can scale the model depending on your needs and magnet strength

Dimensions:

• Width: 240 mm (9.45 in)
• Depth: 70 mm (2.76 in)
• Height: 50 mm (1.97 in)

 

Instructions:

1. Print the model
2. Cut magnetic tape to size and apply it to the back (fits ~25 mm / 1 in tall, ~1.5 mm / 0.06 in thick)
3. Mount it on a magnetic surface (fridge, cabinet, etc.)

 

Recommended magnetic tape:

Any adhesive magnetic strip/tape should work, but I used one that is 25 mm (0.98 in) tall and ~1.5 mm (0.06 in) thick. Stronger/thicker magnets will improve holding strength.
